As you probably know by now, profiles are of great importance when it comes to making the best use of our platform. If you want to refresh your knowledge about the importance of profiles we recommend reading the following article.

Now that you are aware of the importance and added value of profiles, you should also be aware of the method(s) of checking if the profiles are being synced to Datatrics correctly. Please read the following article to see how profiles are synced to the Datatrics platform.

Hopefully, it is now clear what profiles are and how to synchronize those to datatrics. The last step is to make sure everything is set properly by checking if profiles are identified properly on your website.

The first step is to navigate to your audience tab within the platform and see if known profiles including website activities are present within the segments. Randomly open some of the profiles and check if the correct data is present within the profiles.

The second step is checking if your profile is being recognized when visiting your website. In order to do this make sure your data is saved by your ESP. This can be done by enrolling for e.g. your newsletter. Once you have done that, it is time to create a testing touchpoint. The only thing the touchpoint needs to contain is the following: {{profile.email}}. It is important you make sure you are using the exact field here. Usually, the field is called email, but could also be named mail. In that case, it should be {{profile.mail}}. So make sure you know what field to use. Since the sync may take up to a day, it is often recommended to wait at least 24 hours after creating the touchpoint. Once the time has passed, press the live preview button on the touchpoint.

The touchpoint should be loaded and show you the email address which you used to sign up for the newsletter.

As an example, we’ve created a new touchpoint. The content is set to static and all fields except the description are left empty. The description is filled with {{profile.email}}. The preview on the right looks as follow:

When we press the Live Preview button, we will get shown the email address linked to my profile:
